CECC researcher Nelson Ribeiro has just published a new chapter on The Oxford Handbook of Radio and Podcasting about "Segregation on the airwaves: from a monolingual to a multilingual broadcasting model in Angola and Mozambique".
The work presents a history of broadcasting in the Portuguese African colonies during Estado Novo and demonstrates, among other relevant issues, how radio programs in African languages were used as tools of psychological warfare by the Portuguese regime.
