Atividade solidária 2023

On 1 September, the Faculty of Human Sciences welcomed the new undergraduate students to what will be their home for at least three years.

The day began with welcome sessions with the course coordinators and a guided tour of the campus. In the afternoon, a solidarity activity took place at the Quinta do Espírito Santo Centre of the Comunidade Vida e Paz in Sobral de Monte Agraço.

The solidarity activity began with a brief explanation from the director, Vanda Cardoso, about the Quinta do Espírito Santo Centre and how it fits into society. Then, the new students were integrated into the various activities planned, in which they were able to contribute to fruit picking, rehabilitating the land, sorting and organising donations of clothes and books, among others. The activity ended with a moment of sharing experiences between students and former patients from socially vulnerable situations.

The Comunidade Vida e Paz, run by the Lisbon Patriarchate, aims to help homeless people with addictions and associated disorders and to train them socially and professionally with a view to their integration into society.

FCH brought together around 200 new students from five different courses for this annual solidarity activity, "FCH Solidária – O Outro em Nós", which aims to promote socializing and, at the same time, contribute to the greater good.
