CECC's International Conference “Crossing Borders with a New Medium: Radio and Imperial Identities” - Program closed

On the 24th and 25th of September, CECC will be hosting the International Conference “Crossing Borders with a New Medium: Radio and Imperial Identities”, organized within the scope of the ongoing research project “Broadcasting in the Portuguese Empire: Colonialism, Nationalism and Identity” (2018 – 2021). This project is led by the CECC researcher Professor Nelson Ribeiro, and is funded by the Portuguese public funding agency - FCT - via Portugal 2020 (ref. PTDC/COM-CSS/29610/2017)

Professor Simon Potter (University of Bristol) and Professor Marissa Moorman (Indiana University Bloomington) will be the conference keynote speakers. Session panels will focus on:

International and Imperial Broadcasting: Programming, Culture and Propaganda
Broadcasting and National Identities
Broadcasting in Decolonization and Post-Colonial Contexts
Soundscapes, Colonialism and Identities

The conference will take place both in-person and online (participants will receive the link for the conference on their email accounts).

Registration for attendants (both online and in-person):

- the fee is 30€. It includes lunches and coffee-breaks for those taking part in person.
