The curricular unit aims to introduce the student in the scientific and methodological nature of the social sciences, and of the sociology in particular, as well in the basic questions of its academic corpus.

After an introduction to the scientific and methodological status of sociology, and to its differentiation of others social sciences, we begin with the analysis of the relations between nature and culture in society, in its several demonstrations, to close the programme with an introductory study of the social differentiation, analyzing and explaining the social stratification and the class structure as well the correspondents theories of social mobility and the social change.
