The Doctoral Dissertation is the core of this cycle of studies, contributing decisively to the development of specialized skills. In fact, most of the skills that are expected in a Doctor of Biotechnology will be accomplished throughout the thesis work. These skills include:

• Knowledge and ability to apply different methodological approaches in the area of study (Social Sciences: Law, Economics and Politics; Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences; Humanities: Culture, Theology and Philosophy);
• Ability to conceive, design, adapt and perform scientific research in the area of study, according to the requirements imposed by the highest standards of academic quality; 
• Ability to critically analyze, evaluate and synthesize new and complex ideas within the area of study.
