Admission Requirements
Applicants are required to hold an MSc. Degree in any domain in Psychology, or an MSc. in Biology or Medicine relevant in Psychobiology (e.g. Psychiatry, Neuroscience). Other Master level degrees may be considered upon analysis of the relevance of the cv and project.
Language requirements:
Candidates should demonstrate that they have a high level of fluency and command of English (preferred minimum C1). It is not required to present an English Certificate, since your language level will be evaluated by the coordination at the time of the interview.
Documents required for the application
- Identification document (Passport or ID card);
- Curriculum Vitae in English;
- University Transcripts of Records - Original documents should be presented until October 30;
- Motivation Letter (2 pages max.) - the motivation letter should introduce you to the selection committee, explain why you have chosen this program and why you would be a good fit;
- Project proposal: this is a preliminary proposal for a research project (a research you would like to conduct) and should be short and concise with a maximum of 3000 words (3-4 pages), including the aim of the project and adequate references. For further guidelines you may check with the program director Professor Francisco Esteves.
You might want to consider relating your research proposal to ongoing projects at our New Experimental Psychology Lab. Check the Lab and its projects here.
- Vaccination record (tetanus vaccine updated) - upon registration.
Note: Besides those mentioned above, any other documents that Applicants find relevant to their application may be included.
Note: All Degrees earned abroad, Transcripts and Certificates must be authenticated by the Portuguese Consulate or Embassy located in the country where the course was completed or by Consulate and Embassy services of the foreign countries in Portugal or with the Apostille Stamp for any country that is part of the Hague Convention and duly translated into Portuguese (if not in English, French or Spanish).
Application Process
Step 1 - Account Creation
In order to start the application, you must:
After creating an account, you will receive the access data in your email. Once you have access data, you may proceed to formalize your application on https://applications.fch.lisboa.ucp.pt .
If you do not remember your username or password, you should access the email address https://applications.fch.lisboa.ucp.pt/passwordResetRequest and follow the instructions to recover your username or password.
Step 2 - Application, Personal Information and Mandatory Documentation
You must select the program(s) to which you wish to apply. You may apply for up to three program(s), listed in order of preference.
After selecting the program(s), you must complete all required personal information and upload the mandatory documentation.
Note: Before submitting your application, we recommend that you confirm it is complete, as no changes will be possible after submission.
Step 3 - Payment of the application fee
After submitting your application, you must proceed with the payment of the non-refundable application fee. Please note that the application will only be considered complete once the fee has been paid.
Step 4 - Additional information
Once the application has been validated, an interview with the candidate will be scheduled (international interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams).
Step 5 - Final Decision and Next Steps
The Selection Committee reviews your application and makes a final decision.
The application results will be published on the platform and communicated by email on the dates previously announced.
The outcome of the application may be one of the following:
- Admitted: The candidate is admitted to the program applied for.
- Conditionally Admitted: The candidate is conditionally admitted to the program, with final enrolment subject to the fulfilment of the requirements indicated.
- Not Admitted: The candidate is not admitted to the selected programme option(s).
Regardless of the outcome, all candidates will receive a personalised email indicating the final result of their application. In cases of Admission or Conditional Admission, the email will also include detailed information regarding the enrolment process.
The candidate must indicate whether or not they accept the offer of admission. To accept the offer, it is necessary to follow the instructions provided in the email and proceed with the payment of the stated amount, which includes the enrolment fee and the first tuition instalment for September, within the specified deadline.
Note:
- The Selection Committee decision is final and conclusive;
- Students are not allowed to apply more than once per Intake (double applications will not be considered and related application fees will not be refunded).
