This Curricular Unit aims to: - Understand the characteristics of a scientific theory and its development and validation processes - Analyse the major theories and models of human learning and within a historical context - Understand how different theories conceptualize the relationship between learning and development - Elucidate the relationships between the different learning theories - Reflect on the new learning approaches - Relate the connectionist learning approach with the network society - Understand the relationship between memory and learning - Understand the importance of mental representations and their relationships to the processes of knowledge acquisition.
