Program Description
The Master’s Degree in Social Work emerges from the assumption that the growing complexity of processes of social change, which social assistants and workers are inherently involved in, require an ever deeper reflection on these societal transformations and dynamics, whether in terms of the fundamentals to Social Services or their methods of intervention.
Designed as a means of deepening the new knowledge on fields of Social Work and Social Policies, the Master’s Degree in Social Work is structured into two specialist fields:
- Social Work
- Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Social Economy
Hence, the specialist Social Work option deepens the specific knowledge on the field through a strong component of critical reflection on the professional practices reflected in the compulsory professional internship program for students. This professional internship is supported through a Research and Reflection Seminar on Professional Social Work Practices.
Finally, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Social Economy option seeks to nurture the development of innovative proposals, build value and implement economically sustainable business models in order to establish strong partnership relationships with organisations in the sector while simultaneously acquiring the knowledge and competences to engage in social entrepreneurship.
