Miriam Thaler is an FCT-sponsored Ph.D. researcher in Cultural Studies at the Lisbon Consortium. She holds a B.A. and M.A. in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Munich. As a Masters’ student, she specialized in Visual Anthropology & Ethnographic Film during the course of which she directed and shot an Ethnographic documentary, screened at Flimmern und Rauschen festival in Munich in 2017.  She has tutored a one-semester course on Ethnographic Collecting and Exhibiting at LMU in 2014/15, been a trainee at the exhibition center Ausstellungszentrum Lokschuppen Rosenheim where she was involved in the organization of exhibitions. She has participated in a professional training programme, offered by the Bayerische Museumsakademie (Bavarian Museum Academy) focused on museum work. Her research interests are cultural identity, ideology, collective memory and museum studies.
