Annimari Juvonen is PhD student in Cultural Studies at the Lisbon Consortium (School of Human Sciences, the Catholic University of Portugal). She holds MA degrees in Social and Cultural Anthropology (University of Helsinki, 2008), and in Anthropology of Human Rights and Social Movements (New University of Lisbon, 2013). 

Her previous research projects have focused on textual and visual discursive practices related to human rights and social justice in institutional and organizational European contexts. The ongoing PhD project investigates European visual culture and artistic practice as discursive openings for silent social issues, such as contemporary forms of poverty. Her research interests include visual culture, ideologies, citizenship, transnational mobility, cultural identity and memory.
