1987: Magister Artium (German/English Studies and Political) at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität of Freiburg/Germany; dissertation on the influence of Ossian on German literature.

2003: PhD at the Universidade Aberta / Portugal; thesis: Das Motiv des Doppelgängers als Spaltungsphantasie in der Literatur und im deutschen Stummfilm, published in 2005.

From 1991 to 1996 Lecturer at Universidade da Madeira (German Studies). Since 1996 working at Universidade Aberta, Lisbon, currently as Assistant Professor. He is teaching online in the areas of German and Comparative Literature, Cultural Studies and Information Sciences.

Member of CECC, AIM (Associação de Investigadores da Imagem em Movimento), APEG (Associação Portuguesa de Estudos Germanísticos) and IVG (Internationale Vereinigung für Germanistik).

Investigation: Comparative Literature, Cultural and Film Studies (German, Portuguese, English and American), e-learning; Lecturer at the University of Freiburg (International Sommercourses).
