Maria do Rosário Lupi Bello is an Assistant Professor at Universidade Aberta, in Lisbon, where she lectures in the areas of Film Studies, Theory of Literature, Comparative Literature and Interart Studies, having received her PhD in Theory of Literature (on the narrative relationship between Literature and Film) in 2002 at Universidade Aberta. As Guest Professor she has lectured Portuguese Literature at Universidade Católica Portuguesa (2003-2004) and Film Narratology at Universidade de Coimbra (2005-2007), and she has coordinated and lectured two MA courses in Literature and Cinema at Universidade de São Paulo and at Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (2011-2012). She coordinates two courses, Licenciatura em Humanidades and Mestrado em Estudos Comparados – Literatura e Outras Artes, both of Universidade Aberta.

She is a CETAPS collaborator (Centre for English, Translation and Anglo-Portuguese Studies), where she coordinates the research line British Culture and the Media. Presently she is doing research and publishing mainly in the areas of Narrative Theory and Film Studies, especially on filmmakers such as Manoel de Oliveira, Andrei Tarkovsky, Carl Dreyer and Robert Bresson. Apart from several articles and book chapters on Film Studies, Interart Studies and Literature, her main publications are Narrativa Literária e Narrativa Fílmica. O caso de «Amor de Perdição» (1st ed. 2005 - 2nd ed. 2008) and as co-author Narrativa e Arte – CD-Rom (2006) and Encontro com Maria Ulrich no Século XXI (2009).
