Between September 8 and 10, the city of Guimarães, European Green Capital 2026, hosted the 8th Meeting of the Urban Cleaning Association. The event brought together a diverse group of mayors, company representatives, organisations working in environmental management, and members of the academic community at Monte da Penha.

Representing the Faculty of Human Sciences of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Professor Augusta Gaspar, Coordinator of the Master’s in Psychology and Environmental Sustainability, delivered a presentation on the role of emotions and other mental processes in behavioural change towards more environmentally friendly practices. Her contribution brought the essential perspective of Psychology to this multidisciplinary discussion on environmental conservation and sustainability.

The meeting highlighted the importance of bringing together efforts from society, industry and academia, reinforcing the idea that sustainability depends on ongoing cooperation across sectors for the common good.
