FCH-Católica began the month of September by welcoming its new Undergraduate students, who arrived at the School of Human Sciences of Universidade Católica Portuguesa on September 3 and 4, to begin a new stage of their academic journey.
The welcome program provided new students with their first opportunity to connect with the academic community, including their professors and fellow students, and to discover the School’s different areas.
The Welcome Session was attended by the President of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Professor Isabel Capeloa Gil, and the Dean of FCH-Católica, Professor Catarina Duff Burnay, as well as program coordinators, faculty members and Alumni of the School.
In her address, the Dean of FCH-Católica highlighted the importance of bringing together different experiences, perspectives and ways of seeing the world, stressing that it is precisely through this encounter that a fundamental part of the university experience begins.
“Each of you has brought, above all, your own way of looking at the world. And, from today onwards, that way of looking at the world will encounter others,” said Professor Catarina Duff Burnay, encouraging the new students to approach the coming years with curiosity, intellectual freedom and a willingness to question what may seem obvious.
The welcome program thus marked the beginning of a new stage for the students joining the School, a stage shaped by learning, discovery, new relationships and different ways of seeing the world.
As the Dean of FCH-Católica said at the end of the session: “Today, you begin to write your story. Today, you become part of our History.”
