Stacey Leasca, a PhD student in Communication Studies who is writing a thesis on how misinformation challenges journalistic practice, won a Bronze Award in the category “Culinary Travel” for her story “The New Albania” published in Food & Wine in May 2025.
Albania is emerging as a rapidly growing tourist destination, known for its coastline, authentic cuisine, and local wines. After a history marked by occupation and isolation, the country is undergoing a cultural revival led by a new generation that values traditions, especially in cuisine based on local products. This combination of heritage, innovation, and affordable prices is attracting more and more visitors, and that is what Stacey Leasca wanted to highlight in her article.
The NATJA Travel Awards are the most prestigious in the field of travel journalism now entering its 35th edition. See the complete list of winners here.
