Rui Gaspar é Doutorado em Psicologia, especialização em Psicologia Social pela Universidade de Lisboa e Master in Science (MSc) em Psychological Research Methods pela University of Plymouth (UK). É atualmente membro da direção da Society for Risk Analysis – Europe, membro do painel de "Comunicação de riscos” no Conselho Científico da Autoridade para a Segurança Alimentar e Económica (ASAE), membro do Grupo de Trabalho para uma Comunicação Eficaz em Alimentação (GTCEA) do Instituto Nacional de Saúde Dr. Ricardo Jorge e membro do Comité de Gestão (MC substitute) da ação COST CA15212 - “Citizen Science to promote creativity, scientific literacy & innovation throughout Europe”. É Professor Auxiliar Convidado na Universidade Católica Portuguesa e membro integrado no Católica Research Centre for Psychological, Family & Social Wellbeing (CRC-W). Em 2017 foi galardoado com o Society for Risk Analysis Presidential Merit Award.
