Text Genres and Portuguese Language

5 ECTs / Semester / Portuguese

Students should know and discuss the notions of text and textuality, understanding the linguistic, cognitive and social processes involved in the communicative acts. Examining the procedures and mechanisms that structure the different kinds of texts, they should be able to identify and distinguish several oral and written, text genres, literary and non-literary. In each case, they must develop the capacity to read, understand and interpret a text, observing the resources it uses according to their specific communicative purposes. In the end of the semester, students must also have acquire the ability to produce texts of the most common genres, in Portuguese language.
