The curricular unit has different objectives, comprising acquisition and application of knowledge and the development of skills. By the end of the course, learners should be able to:

  • understand the impact of cultural and cognitive processes in language;
  • relate linguistic variation to cultural framing;
  • acknowledge the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in the study of language;
  • relate data of linguistic variation with theoretical approaches in the study of language
